Part 1: Manoeuvres
Players have one ball each.
The coach says 'GO' and the players run around the area.
Players perform exercise for 45-seconds then move the ball static around a cone for 45-seconds as active rest.
Repeat 3-times.
COACHING POINTS
Stick on ball, utilise body when performing fakes, change direction. Keep feet moving, speed is key.
Part 2: Eliminations
1st player on each cone carries the ball towards tyre.
When players reach the first cone, pull the ball to the right and continue.
When players reach tyre, pull the ball to the right and carry right at speed to the next cone.
When player gets to the cone, next person goes.
2 full rotations around the square and change direction.
COACHING POINTS
Stick on the ball, ball central to body, sharp change of direction. Focus on speed of ball movement, keep feet moving.
Part 3: Connections
2 players carry the ball to towards the tyre at speed.
When they get to the tyre, pull the ball to the right or left.
Pass the ball to anyone standing on a cone and replace the person they passed the ball to. Player receives the ball and carries on the drill.
Can increase to 3 balls/players. Coach times 3-minutes.
Repeat 3 times.
COACHING POINTS
Sell the fake, use body as deception, sharp change of direction. Focus on speed, hard & accurate passes, solid first touch.
Part 4: Small Group Gameplay
4 v 3 scenario.
Teams play 4 v 3.
Scoring = run the ball over the end line with control = 1 point.
After scoring, play 3 v 4 in opposite direction.
Rotate team with 3, every 4 minutes.
COACHING POINTS
Confidence on the ball, want possession under pressure. Use extra player, identify when to eliminate/pass, go forward. High intensity on & off the ball.
